The Swedish writer, August Strindberg once said, “Autumn is my spring.” Literally just weeks away from winter, it’s a last glimpse of fall foliage in yesterday’s afternoon light. One could be saddened by these thoughts as the upcoming season of hibernation or migration can be a bit hard on the garden spirit.
But look closely. There are always a few hot pockets in the garden. Here is the perfect example - fresh Rosemary. One container was brought indoors to overwinter but the two still planted in the garden are holding onto its aromatic fragrance because of its protective sunny spot. One of its great uses - as a cut flower in this Ball jar plus it gives the kitchen some afternoon hints of spring.
