The perfect habitat for ground birds: these uncut meadows and open space. |
If you could pick any place to live, where would it be? When you think ‘perfect habitat’, is it the mountains, the city, or the beach? Now think about some other living creature like ground birds that flock to open fields and meadows with uncut hay. Although some might be able to adapt to a 'not-so-perfect' place, in order to thrive, birds and people do best in the habitat that is best suited for their needs. Why do some choose open fields and others a vibrant city? Susan Orlean points out the 'perfect' of rural living in her keen observation.
“Living in a rural setting exposes you to so many marvelous things - the
natural world and the particular texture of small-town life, and the
exhilarating experience of open space.” Wherever your perfect habitat, make
room for the marvelous things – especially the natural world. That’s it for a
beautiful Wednesday – a perfect June day in New England. And if you didn’t catch yesterday’s post, it
was a precursor to open spaces.
