Just a quick synopsis – this is quite the mind boggling equation when you work out the math. Although not something new, it’s worth asking ourselves how much food each of us may waste during the course of a week x 52 = ??? And while there may be bigger fish to fry with the practices of mass production and marketing food, I’m just weighing in and giving you something to think about today.
As Mitch Albom reminds us, “It's such a shame to waste time. We always think we have so much of it.” The same is true of our land, water and energy resources.

Unfortunately we live in a society where everything is dispensable... electronics, clothing and food. Most people don't think twice before they throw something away because they know they can easily go get more/newer versions. Things don't seem to be given they value they deserve. It's a topic that I have discussed with friends/family before and it is mind boggling.
As for food, I believe the FoodNetwork or the Cooking Channel has done food competitions challenging chefs to make meals out of food that is considered garbage but really isn't. I believe there is a new show coming out on one of those channels about this exact topic.
