Visual Beauty

#imagery of a favorite tree, Acer griseum, Paperbark Maple
On this foggy #WordlessWednesday, it’s #imagery taken yesterday of a favorite tree, Acer griseum, Paperbark Maple. As mentioned in Monday’s post, Take Two what you plant and what you leave for late fall to winter interest can make all the colorful difference in your garden when days turn bleak. As David Attenborough points out, "It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living."

#GoodMorning October

#GoodMorning October
On this #WordlessWednesday, it’s the last of the Sunflowers in the garden. It adds a bit of sunshine to this much needed rainy October 1st day. And if you live in or are visiting Massachusetts, here’s a #DYK factoid about the month of October. Take a peek at something more than leaf peeping and apple picking – although those are still some of our favorite fall activities. The Secretary of State’s office has designated October as Massachusetts Archaeology Month. Click here for the list of activities. Sounds like a great rainy day fallback. I'm sure there are a few history buffs amongst the garden and design lovers that frequent here.

As L.M. Montgomery once quipped, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." And if you live in Massachusetts, there's leaf peeping, apple picking, and archaeology to supplement those days when you need a garden break.

Late Summer #WordlessWednesday Moments

This rare and endangered flower, Gentiana andrewsii (Bottle gentian or Closed gentian) can be found blooming at this time of year. Nestled along the edge of the water, this one small patch was waiting to be found.
On this #WordlessWednesday, the best kept late summer moments...

are those you happen to fall upon.

And if you missed yesterday's imagery of the Franklinia Alatamaha’s blossom, take another peek.

The Daffodil Value

On this beautiful May morning, it’s a favorite Walt Whitman quote and a Daffodil image for #WordlessWednesday. “Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you.”

When It Is...

On this #WordlessWednesday, a favorite spring perennial and a #DailyQuote. It’s from Mitch Albom. “It is never too late or too soon. It is when it is supposed to be.”

Wednesday's Quest

It's a wordless Wednesday with one big question. Are you ready for spring? Counting down the days...where will you be spending your outdoor time when spring finally arrives? Do you have your plans in place? That's it in a nutshell...not even a quote.
