#GoodMorning #WordlessWednesday

#GoodMorning to the last of the warm fall days.
Simple but brilliant fall colors by the pond.
Enjoy the brilliance of fall.
Wherever your path leads you today, let it be somewhere peaceful, colorful, and full of fall.
As Ed Catmull points out in Creativity Inc., Overcoming the Unseen Forces that Stand in the Way of True Inspiration, "For all the care you put into artistry, visual polish frequently doesn't matter if you are getting the story right."

Monday #InTheMoment

It's beginning to look a lot like pumpkins.
To put you in the fall mood, it’s a touch of imagery to set the tone. The content wagon is short on words, making today’s post a Monday #InTheMoment kind of space.
Beautiful autumn sunsets match the turning foliage.
And if you need a perfect quote to get you thinking autumn, Bill Bryson sums it up best in ‘I’m a Stranger Here Myself: Notes on Returning to America after Twenty Years Away.’ “It was one of those sumptuous days when the world is full of autumn muskiness and tangy, crisp perfection: vivid blue sky, deep green fields, leaves in a thousand luminous hues. It is a truly astounding sight when every tree in a landscape becomes individual, when each winding back highway and plump hillside is suddenly and infinitely splashed with every sharp shade that nature can bestow – flaming scarlet, lustrous gold, throbbing vermilion, fiery orange.”
Wherever you find autumn, it's our favorite time of year.

Seeds of Kindness

day 13 of 26 days of kindness
Gertrude Jekyll, a famous English garden designer and artist once said that “The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.” Jekyll created some of the most outstanding color and textural compositions in her art and garden designs. Though her vision was impaired, her philosophy was ‘you should be able to strain your eyes and see the forms, masses and drifts of color and texture.’ Her lack of consideration to fads of the day and ‘going against the grain’ is what makes her still remembered today.

On this 13th day of 26 days of kindness, we remember and honor Emilie Parker. The archived garden image to honor Emilie is the ‘Red Flash’ Caladium. This plant’s tropical red leaves edged beautifully with green give a hint of Christmas color on this overcast December 1st day though an artist might notice the raindrops cupped within the foliage.

Like Jekyll, Emilie was creative and artistic. She was always writing down her ideas for projects and loved going to the craft store for new supplies. She also loved to dress up and read stories with her sisters. And like Jekyll, we should always remember Emilie for the things she loved so much in life so ‘a seed once sown never dies.’

Plant your seeds of kindness on this 13th day of 26 days of kindness. Sow them wherever you may be on this December 1st. Kindness, like a garden, can always find a place to sow a seed.

The Place of Places

Gertrude Stein once said, "This is the place of places and it is here." Yes, we are only a few more weeks until we officially enter 'winter' yet we are still in the midst of this beautiful fall season. What will you be enjoying in these precious weeks of fall? Garlic or bulb planting? Cleaning all your garden tools? Maybe laying out a terrace or designing an outdoor space to enjoy next spring?

Whatever you may be doing in these last few weeks of fall, don't miss out on the most naturally colorful season of the year. Remember, "This is the place of places and it is here." Make this Fall 2013 memorable. There's still some lingering foliage on the nut trees and plenty of local farms with an abundant fall harvest. Enjoy your Tuesday. The clock is ticking - let the winter countdown begin.
